Ice Cream Bar & Ice Pops

Materials

4-ply yarn, 1 ounce or less of the following colors:
(colors used in samples shown in parenthesis)
Dark Brown (Caron Perfect Match - Espresso)
White (Caron One Pound – New White)
Sky Blue (Caron One Pound – Sky Blue)
Neon Green (Caron Simply Soft – Limelight)
Hot Pink (Caron Simply Soft – Watermelon)
Bright lavendar (Caron Simply Soft – Grape)
Crochet Hook Size G
Crochet Hook Size F
Polyester Polyfill Stuffing
Yarn Needle
Tacky Glue
Craft sticks (ice cream sticks) available in craft stores

Finished sizes are approximately life size. Gauge is unimportant.
Work in continuous rounds. Do not join rounds unless instructed to do so.

ICE CREAM BAR

With Dark Brown and G Hook:

Ch 2.

Row 1: 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Ch 1, Turn (4 sc)

Row 2: 2 sc in first sc,
Sc in next 2 sc,
2 sc in last sc.
Ch 1, Turn (6 sc)

Row 3: 2 sc in first sc,
Sc in next 4 sc,
2 sc in last sc.
Ch 1, Turn (8 sc)

Row 4: 2 sc in first sc,
Sc in next sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in next 2 sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in next sc,
2 sc in last sc.
Ch 1, Turn (12 sc)

Row 5: 2 sc in first sc,
Sc in next 3 sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in next 2 sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in next 3 sc,
2 sc in last sc.
Ch 2, Do Not Turn (16 sc)

Begin working in rounds.

Rnd 6: Join with a sl st in first sc of Row 5, ch 1, 2 sc in same sc,
Sc in next 5 sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in next 2 sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in next 5 sc,
2 sc in next sc,
sc in each of next 2 chs.
Join with a sl st in first sc. (22 sc)

Rnd 7-17: Ch 1, sc in same sc and in each sc around.
Join with a sl st in first sc. (22 sc)

Do Not fasten off,
Begin working in rows to create bottom flap

Row 18: sl st in next sc,
Sl st in back loop only (BLO) of next sc,
Ch 1, sc in BLO of same sc,
Sc in BLO of next 8 sc.
Ch 1, Turn (9 sc)

Row 19: sc in first 3 sc,
Ch 3, skip 3 sc,
Sc in last 3 sc.
(stick slot made) (6 sc)

Fasten Off leaving 12” for sewing.

White Bite Patch

With white and G hook

Row 1: Ch 7,
Hdc in third chain from hook,
Hdc in next 4 chs.

Fasten off leaving 12” for sewing.
Sew patch in place over the opening at the top of the ice cream bar.
Fasten off.

Assembly

Stuff ice cream bar lightly with polyfill.
Fold up the bottom flap to close the opening.
Sew along 3 sides with dark brown making sewing stitches in BLO.
Apply tacky glue to one inch of one end of a craft stick. Insert in the stick slot on the bottom of the bar. Let dry.

GREEN ICE POP

With neon green and F hook

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3-18: sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Stuff lightly with polyfill

Rnd 19: (in BLO sc next 2 sc together) repeat around. (6 sc)

Fasten off leaving 12” for sewing

Apply tacky glue to one inch of one end of a craft stick.
Insert the stick through the opening at the bottom of the pop. Let dry.
When thoroughly dry gather last 6 sc together around the stick. Pull tightly to close the opening.
Secure and fasten off.

GRAPE ICE POP

With Bright lavendar and F hook

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3-18: sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Stuff lightly with polyfill

Rnd 19: (in BLO sc next 2 sc together) repeat around. (6 sc)

Fasten off leaving 15” for sewing

Repeat Rnds 1 to 19.


Apply tacky glue to one inch of one end of a craft stick.

Insert the stick through the opening at the bottom of the pop. Let dry.

When thoroughly dry gather last 6 sc together around the stick. Pull tightly to close the opening.

Place the pops side by side and sew together.

Secure and fasten off.

RAINBOW ICE POP

Begin with hot pink and F hook

Rnd 1: Ch 4,
3 sc in second ch from hook,
sc in next ch,
3 sc in next ch,
working on other side of starting ch
sc in next ch. (8 sc)

Rnd 2: sc in first sc of Rnd 1,
3 sc in next sc,
sc in each of next 3 sc,
3 sc in next sc,
sc in last 2 sc. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: sc in first 2 sc,
3 sc in next sc,
sc in next 5 sc,
3 sc in next sc,
sc in last 3 sc. (16 sc)

Rnd 4-11: sc in each sc around. (16 sc)

Change to white

Rnd 12-17: sc in each sc around. (16 sc)

Change to sky blue

Rnd 18-22: sc in each sc around. (16 sc)

Stuff lightly with polyfill.

Rnd 23: In BLO sc next 2 sc together. (8 sc)

Fasten off leaving 12” for sewing.

Apply tacky glue to one inch of one end of a craft stick.

Insert the stick through the opening at the bottom of the pop. Let dry.

When thoroughly dry gather last 8 sc together around the stick. Pull tightly to close the opening.

Secure and fasten off.
